About Estimating Solutions

Hi my name is Bob Evans, I have been in construction for over forty years. I have a wealth of construction knowledge and estimating experience.

The website is about construction estimating education, how to create cost plans, and fully priced bills of quantities. I have written the content from personal experience from what I have learnt over the years. I offer support by mentoring or offering a service to price your project for you.

Building estimator

My back story

I started my career as a joiner at seventeen, became a foreman at the age of twenty-one, and then became a setting-out engineer for a large civil engineering company for a year.

I progressed at college, ending up with a HNC in construction and completed the CIOB course. During this period, I became an estimator, QS and project manager for a small building company I served my time with.

At the age of twenty-nine, I was given a directorship in the company, but left at the age of thirty five to build my own civil engineering company.

The company started trading in 1990 with the first year turnover of £400,000. The turnover grew to several million over fifteen years.

I retired from this company when at the age of fifty to work on other interests, including becoming a construction business growth coach. I also build a retaining wall website and support home owners and contractors with selecting and designing retaining walls. Retaining Wall Solutions.

Recently, I have been estimating for some customers and have enjoyed returning back to my roots.

I am happy to take off quantities for small domestic-type projects to support homeowners in working out the best way to construct their projects in a cost-effective way. And to support building contractors on small projects.
